# Install

> Install Node.js and the disko command, and sign in.

You build disko games with a command-line tool called `disko`. It runs your
game in a test room and publishes it. All you need first is Node.js.

## Requirements

- **Node.js 22 or later.** Check with `node --version`.
- **A disko account.** Sign in to the [Creator Portal](https://dev.disko.ooo) once
  to create it and choose your username.

## Create a project

```sh
npm create @disko-game -- game arena --ts
cd arena
npm install
```

This creates a ready-to-play game in TypeScript; use `--js` for JavaScript.
The `disko` command comes with the project, so you run it with `npx disko`.

## Sign in

The first command that needs your account opens your browser to sign in. You
can also sign in ahead of time:

```sh
npx disko login
```

For CI or coding agents, use a [CLI token](/registry/cli-tokens) instead.

## Next

[Create your first game](/get-started/first-game).
