# studio-unknown-name

> An expression names a variable, function, parameter or property that is not available there.

| Reported by | Studio validation: the Problems panel, Play, Publish and the MCP `validate` tool |
| Code in the Studio | `unknown-name` |

Expressions see the project's variables, enumerations and expressions, plus the names their row binds, such as `player` in a player trigger. A name from another row, a misspelling, or a property the value does not have produces this problem.

## Fix

- Choose the value again in the Studio: a **Read** block lists only the names in scope.
- Use the name the row's trigger binds, or move the action into a row that binds it.
