# auth_unavailable

> The sign-in service could not be reached or answered with an error, so `disko` could not sign you in.

| Kind | `disko` command error |
| `disko` exit code | 4 (unavailable) |

`disko login`, and `disko publish` when it needs a browser sign-in or a
refresh of the stored sign-in, talk to the sign-in service. When that service
cannot be reached, answers with an error status or returns invalid OpenID
metadata, the command fails with `auth_unavailable` and exits with code 4.

## Fix

- Check the network connection and run the command again.
- If you set `DISKO_AUTH_ISSUER` or chose `--profile local`, check that it
points at a running sign-in service.
- If the service answered with an error status, wait and try again later.
- To skip browser sign-in entirely, set `DISKO_TOKEN` to a CLI token. Commands
that use a CLI token do not contact the sign-in service.
